IMPORTANT INFORMATION
FOR USERS OF DIDCOT PARKWAY
Dated April 2017

Work has now started on the multi-storey car park (MSCP) on the Foxhall Road site at Didcot Parkway station.

This is a joint project funded with the support of OxLEP and Oxfordshire County Council. It will mean a step change in capacity for Didcot in preparation for the increased demand that will come from brand new electric trains.

The work is in two phases. This first phase will see the construction of a temporary deck across part of the existing car park.  This will be operational in July when Phase 2, the construction of the new MSCP will begin.

There will be a loss of parking spaces during construction. In Phase One (April – July) we expect that capacity will be sufficient to cover all existing users.  In Phase 2 (July – Summer 18) spaces will drop below the level of current usage.

This will mean some customers will need to move to alternative car parks, possibly at other stations, or find other ways to travel to the station.   We are currently reviewing options and once customers return from their Easter break we will complete a final analysis of parking numbers elsewhere.

Network Rail are also investing in station improvements and will be constructing a covered walkway to connect the car park to the station.  This work necessitates moving cycle racks at the station. Again, we have done our best to avoid any reduction in spaces, but there will be a small drop.
